We are seeking an organized, take-charge individual to manage the efforts of our publication product editors, writers, art directors and photographers. You should possess a public relations, marketing communications and/or journalism degree and at least seven years’ managerial experience within a creative environment (preferably print communications). To qualify, you must have proven experience in managing editorial and production staff members and activities—ensuring on-time delivery of top-notch publication products (newspapers, magazines, newsletters) that meet or exceed our clients’ objectives. In addition, a proven ability to motivate staff members for high achievement is a must.

Education, experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English or related field or equivalent education or experience.
  • Seven to 10 years of experience in editorial management for publishing, advertising or creative agency work with demonstrated ability to successfully manage employees, develop policies and procedures, and implement and manage them. Highly developed ability to strategize systems and procedures. Keen ability to manage projects independently and to meet challenges with creative solutions.
  • The ability to set vision and drive concepts and strategies through the entire publication process. Highly developed ability to conceptualize editorial and design improvements and communicate such to others.
  • Strong aesthetic sense and intuitive understanding of what makes a publication effective with regard to both design and copy.
  • A solid understanding of both business and client goals and how they relate.
  • Excellent presentation skills; an interest in building open, trusting client relationships; and the ability to consult, coach and influence our clients in diverse business environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent written, verbal, persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed skills fostering synergy, enthusiasm, optimism and energy in the workplace while being firm and decisive about meeting policies, procedures, deadlines and goals. Ability to motivate staff in a positive, respectful manner and communicate clearly to encourage effective teamwork.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a company.
