Vice President for Business Development

Position is currently available

This position would be a vice president- or director-level, depending on experience. Develops, implements and manages policies, programs and systems to sell syndicated publications to the hospital market. Responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategy and preparing annual sales forecasts. Develops short- and long-range objectives to ensure sales growth, and implements performance standards for measuring progress.

Takes responsibility, in harmony with chief executive officer and human resources, for the recruitment and selection of new sales personnel. Manages, coaches and motivates the sales staff to achieve goals. Conducts the annual performance evaluation of each staff member. Encourages and facilitates the professional development of each sales representative. 

Cultivates relationships with major accounts, in cooperation with sales representatives, to identify opportunities, and increase and sustain sales. Maintains and constantly improves company’s sales position in the marketplace. Recommends actions pertaining to new product development, product improvement, pricing and distribution.

Education, experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications or related field or equivalent education or experience.
  • Seven to 10 years of professional sales experience (business-to-business preferred), including a minimum of three years’ supervising and managing sales staff.
  • Excellent written, verbal, persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed skills in fostering synergy, enthusiasm, optimism and energy in the workplace, while being firm and decisive about meeting policies, procedures, deadlines and goals.
  • Organizational skills, inquisitive mind, initiative and leadership skills necessary.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within company as a team player.
  • Has enthusiasm and persistent attitude.
  • Enjoys travel.
