Coffey Communications is committed to a clean environment, healthy employees and a thriving community. We consider these goals aligned with our corporate mission to communicate health and healthcare information for the enrichment of people's lives.

Giving in our community

Giving back is important to us as a company and as individuals.

As a company, we spend a percentage of our yearly revenue on philanthropic, civic and community-based efforts, such as financial sponsorships and pro bono printing for community groups. We also sponsor a monthly dinner at a local homeless shelter. Employees receive paid time to cook and serve this meal.

As individuals, we donate to local food banks and contribute to efforts like holiday greetings for seniors, coats for kids, Operation Christmas Child, Relay for Life, March of Dimes walks, Make a Difference Day and Re-Leaf Walla Walla—just to name a few.

Promoting employee health and wellness

The websites and publications we create help hospitals and health organizations teach their communities about healthy living. We try to put this information in action in our own lives as well.

To help encourage employees to stay well and thrive, Coffey offers:

  • A voluntary wellness program.
  • Incentives for good health habits such as exercise, nutrition and safety.
  • Subsidies for health club memberships or home exercise equipment.
  • A quarter-mile walking loop in front of our office where employees can stretch their legs during their breaks.

Looking after the environment

Coffey needs resources like electricity and paper to do the work we do. But we're always working to find new ways to use resources as wisely and efficiently as possible.

In our office, we use a variety of technologies to conserve power, like automatic switches that turn off lights when rooms aren't in use and energy-efficient lightbulbs and HVAC units. And every employee workstation has a container for recyclable items.

Our editorial staff uses a paperless process for writing, editing and filing stories. And we've also created a publication planning website that lets clients work with us to plan their magazines online.

We're also committed to using paper wisely in the magazines and newsletters we create for clients.

We follow the guidelines of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), 2 international nonprofit organizations that promote responsible management of the world's forests. That means, all pulp used for our paper comes from approved forests and contains at least a portion of recycled content.

All of the printing plants used by Coffey across the country also adhere to FSC guidelines. In addition, our printers use soybean-based inks, which are better for the environment than petroleum-based inks.
