Welcome new providers to the community

Your health system’s talented health care providers are ready to give your community the best possible care. However, a perennial marketing challenge is connecting those providers with potential patients. We often hear from our clients: What are the best ways to promote providers and give health care consumers essential information in choosing the right provider for them?

You can use a variety of marketing channels, of course, from physician profiles in your print publication to social media posts, billboards and TV spots. Here are two more strong ideas that are working for our clients.

Direct-mail postcards

Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics (WHMC), in Colfax, Washington, partners with Coffey to produce direct-mail postcards that promote new providers who join their hospital and clinics.

“Due to our demographics, we find great value in the postcards sent to those in our hospital district and surrounding communities,” says Laurie Gronning, Manager of Administration Services at WHMC. “We have a good number of individuals who depend on communication methods other than online and social media.”

In addition to postcards, WHMC uses radio and newspaper ads, Facebook posts, and their website to promote their new providers. Gronning’s team has heard from patients who appreciated receiving the cards.

“It is a benefit for us to know that the postcards are physically reaching homes in our district and surrounding communities,” Gronning says. “We know we miss a large portion of people with just radio or social media. We find that something that folks can hold in their hand, even for a few seconds or minutes, is still effective for us.”
