Creating your first AI loop

By Jeremy Dietz, Director of AI Strategy and Content

Do you interact with your artificial intelligence (AI) tool one prompt at a time? If so, it’s time to learn about the power of loops. This technique, often used by software engineers, can also help improve your healthcare marketing work.

What is a loop?

A loop is a simple structure: The AI produces the work, scores it against a standard you’ve set, corrects the gaps and repeats. It stops when the output meets your bar or reaches a limit you define.

Create your AI loop

You don’t need a coding tool to make a loop. You can do it right in the chat feature of your large language model (LLM) of choice. Just give the LLM a task and ask it to repeat a review-and-revise cycle using these three things:

  • A goal. Clearly define what "good" looks like to you.
  • A measure. Provide criteria for scoring each output. This is the element that determines whether the loop succeeds.
  • A limit. Decide how many passes the AI runs, or the point at which it stops and returns to you.

3 content marketing loops you can run today

Wondering where to start? Many of the tasks you regularly use AI for now have the potential to become loops. But here are three simple, content-focused loop ideas that you could try now.

Reading level assistant

Provide a blog post or other patient education material to the AI. Have it check the reading level and make revisions until it meets the target you set.

Brand style checker

Provide your style guide
and have the AI check content against it and
make updates until it reaches the right level of alignment.

Social Media posts

Provide your social media plan and have the AI generate posts, rate them for clarity and length, and then return only the strongest contenders for you to consider.

Remember: Use loops to improve content, not to replace expert review—especially for clinical accuracy and for legal, regulatory or brand-sensitive content.
